I’ve managed to get to the wetlands a couple of times over the last two weeks. I am so excited about the arrival of fall!!!!! Cooler weather means fewer insects, who seem to love dining out on me, and fewer people. Fewer people mean more critters to watch!

Fall at the Wetlands
As the temperature drops, I get out more. I love the crisp weather and having a walk to myself. There is still time to see migrating birds and the residents who will stick around as long as the water is not frozen. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Gulls
Fall migration is well underway. There are thousands of gulls at Clinton Lake and I never get tired of watching. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Eagles, egrets, pelicans, and more
It was a lovely morning at the lake. Many migrants are still coming through. There are still thousands of gulls. I imagine the egrets are getting ready to leave to for the season. Everywhere we went there were pelicans. The young bald eagle was a nice surprise. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Gulls
I think there are more gulls here right now than people. They outnumber us, and that’s a good thing. More pelican pics later. 🙂 Click on pictures to enlarge.

At the spillway
The lake is frozen, so everyone is hanging out below the dam. Zoom in on the trees and count the bald eagles. I saw at least twenty in the short time I was out there this morning. Very cool. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Gull-palooza
The amount and diversity of gulls coming in right now is staggering. They are amazing to watch. We humans are delightfully outnumbered. Click on pictures to enlarge.
