Deer and Turkeys

I am so happy to see so many deer and turkeys this fall. They seem to be everywhere the last couple of weeks. Seeing them foraging together a few times was a nice treat. Click on pictures to enlarge.

And one lone turkey vulture. They will be leaving soon. I always miss their beautiful soaring, their kettles.

Nice morning

This fall weather is amazing. It was nice to leave for an appointment a couple of hours early and steal a bit of time at the lake. Click on pictures to enlarge.

The real turkey trot

I was driving down the road and caught a glimpse of these lovelies out of the corner of my eye. They were so far away; I wasn’t quite sure what I was seeing. I came back around and realized–turkeys!  I just love watching them forage together. This is the first time I’ve seen a group this big. Click on picture to enlarge.

Neighborhood Turkey

I’m always happy and a bit worried to see our neighborhood turkey stroll through. She’s beautiful and more than welcome to stop by, hang out, eat birdseed, whatever. I just don’t want her to get hit by a car, shot at, or picked up by animal control.  On a more positive note, she did head back into a wooded area where I think she’s fairly safe.  Click on pictures to enlarge.

She’s back!

Our neighborhood wild turkey strolled by this morning before heading off into a wooded area. I’m always happy to see her going in that direction because it looks a lot safer back there than some of the other spots I have seen her. Unfortunately, an article in the local paper gave away that she’s been hanging out in this area, which makes me worry for her safety (if you’ve read the comments on an article like that, you know what I mean). Here’s hoping she stays safe and finds her family or group to hang out with. Click on pictures to enlarge.
