In all the years I’ve been visiting the wetlands, I have only seen river otters twice. I’ve been stalking the same area at the same time hoping for another glimpse, but I know they’re smarter than I am and probably right under my nose.

Feeling like spring
Brisk spring mornings are the best!
Spring Sounds
Morning Muskrats
It seemed like muskrats were everywhere Friday morning. I missed out on getting pics of a couple doing a little frolicking in the water, but this one swam right past me.
Time for Pelicans
I haven’t seen any yet this spring. This pic is from this time last spring, so any day now.
More Great Blue Herons
As the weather warms, I am seeing more great blue herons. Soon, the little blue herons and egrets will arrive, and if I’m lucky, I’ll get to see more ibis.
Not this time
It seems like most of the time, crows are the ones doing the harassing, but this early spring morning, a blackbird decided he’d had just about enough.
Geese
While I have been hearing snow geese overhead, I haven’t witnessed any large groups at the wetlands. But, there are still plenty of geese! I did see some greater white-fronted geese in this mix.
Lovely, brisk morning, and an angry beaver
It’s that time of year. Mammals are very busy getting ready for their young ones. I ran into a few deer and a very large beaver who seemed a bit dismayed that I was walking along the creek. I gave her space.
