Cold human, beautiful bluebirds
I managed to walk around the lake for a while on Tuesday. I imagine it will be a few days before I get out there again with the forecast of a twenty-below wind chill for the next few days. I had the area below the dam to myself on Tuesday. I expected to see a few eagles, but there were not too many around. I did stumble upon a tree full of wonderful bluebirds. They were very curious about me. I thought I heard them say, “What are you doing out here, silly human?” Click on pictures to enlarge.

Bluebirds
Fall color
Watching the spectacular colors this fall has been a real treat. The bluebird is quite lovely, too. 🙂 Click on pictures to enlarge.
Tree Swallows and Bluebirds
The tree swallows were very interested in the bluebird boxes, but this little guy wasn’t having it. I caught these pictures while I watched him flying from box to box, chasing away the tree swallows. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Bluebird of happiness
It was great to get out for a while this morning and see some of the spring arrivals. The turkey vultures are back and I saw one lone tree swallow. The bluebirds are always with us, and always splendid. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Warm enough for insects
I could not believe it was 65 when I left the lake yesterday afternoon. It was definitely warm enough for this bluebird to stockpile a few insects for the cold coming in today.
