We’ve been anxiously anticipating their arrival. I made a quick trip by the nest today and here they are! I can’t wait to see them in the water, following their parents around. Click on pictures to enlarge.

I saw these two playing in the water near the pergola this morning. The photos are terrible as it was early and very foggy. What seemed different was how they seemed to be playing like otters play and how they kept rising up out of the water to look at me. I tried to get pictures of that, but they were just too fast. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on my part, but it sure would be neat if we had a couple of river otters back there (and maybe even these two making more). 🙂 If anyone can id them with these poor photos, that would be wonderful. We were on our way to Z’s for some much needed coffee this morning when out of the corner of my eye I saw these white wings blur by. I backed the car up and there she was, gathering up grass for nest building. Isn’t she amazing! Click on pictures to enlarge.

We checked out both eagle nests we regularly visit today. At both I could not see the eaglets when I was taking the pictures, but after zooming in at home, we could make out the little dinosaurs. Click on pictures to enlarge.

We are very fortunate to have robins building a nest over the garage door. The year before last, when they built over the front door, I kept saying, “Gee, I wish they would build over the garage door because they will be less disturbed there since we don’t go out that door much.” They took my advice this year. 🙂 Click on pictures to enlarge.

The last couple of weeks have been full of new arrivals. I know I shouldn’t play favorites, but the scissor-tailed flycatchers are one of mine. Of course, the ruby-crowned kinglet is adorable and the singing of the brown thrasher can’t be beat. OK, maybe not so much favorites. 🙂 Click on pictures to enlarge.
