Warming

It was a very good day to be out. The sun and warmth were so nice after the scary cold temps of the last week. Relief seemed to be in the air. This beautiful dog, enjoying the warm-up with his humans, came by and dropped his “Frisbee” at my feet. I was very honored. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Cardinal Supreme

I’ve written before about the beautiful white-headed northern cardinal that nests in our yard (we call her Polly because she looks a bit like a parrot). I am always on the lookout for her. I saw her quite a bit before the extreme could, which was when these pictures were taken. I didn’t see her for several days after the subzero temps, so I got a little worried. I am happy to report that I saw her yesterday and she seems to have made it through the cold snap just fine. She is quite something. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Cold human, beautiful bluebirds

I managed to walk around the lake for a while on Tuesday. I imagine it will be a few days before I get out there again with the forecast of  a twenty-below wind chill for the next few days. I had the area below the dam to myself on Tuesday. I expected to see a few eagles, but there were not too many around. I did stumble upon a tree full of wonderful bluebirds. They were very curious about me. I thought I heard them say, “What are you doing out here, silly human?” Click on pictures to enlarge.
