The year-round residents are getting into their winter groups and the winter residents like the juncos are here in abundance. Generally, at this time of year, I would be at the Wakarusa Wetlands four or more mornings a week. I know I am one of many deeply grieving this loss. I hope that those of us who are doing more feeding, putting up more cover, winter roosting boxes, and brush piles, can offset some of the habitat loss these birds are experiencing. Cooper’s love our yard
Much to the dismay of all the little birds enjoying our feeders, the Cooper’s has been hanging out in the yard just about every day the past couple of weeks. Click on pictures to enlarge.
White-throated sparrows are back
I love these birds! Going outside first thing in the morning and hearing their song just makes the day better. They seem to be pretty happy with the additions I made to the brush pile over the summer. Click on pictures to enlarge.
