Coming in for a landing
What wonderful views I got of this great blue heron as she descended, steadying herself for landing (very windy day). Click on pictures to enlarge.
Does this look comfortable?
He stayed in this position singing his heart out for quite a while. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
This tiny little bird is just packed full of personality. As I walked near the boardwalk at the Wakarusa Wetlands, it seemed every time I looked to my right, he was perched on a limb peaking out at me. My bird book says, “These birds are not shy.” So true! Click on pictures to enlarge.
Quite a sunrise and a little blue heron
It was a lovely morning at the Wakarusa Wetlands. One of the highlights was a little blue heron. Click on pictures to enlarge.
Nest checks
Eaglets and owlets. Oh my. Click on pictures to enlarge.
(May 1 update): It appears that the owlets have fledged. I wish them the best out there!
Black-crowned night heron
Not the best pictures, but lovely to see her/him for the first time! Click on pictures to enlarge.
Tiger Swallowtail
I saw this amazing fella out in the yard this morning. How pretty! Click on picture to enlarge.
Nesting time again
It’s great to see the robins back, hard at work on the nest over our garage. They built there last year, but something (or someone) happened to the babies before it was time to fledge. I hope they have better luck this year.
