The mourning doves in our neighbor’s tree are nesting in exactly the same place. The two little ones fledged around July 9 and the couple went right to work on starting another batch. They are a dedicated couple! I look forward to seeing more little ones. I’ve never seen them nest again in exactly the same spot. They must really like this tree.

This beautiful family is nesting in our neighbor’s backyard. The kids are finally big enough that one of the parents isn’t always on the nest. They sit in a nearby tree where they can see the nest clearly. They are the cutest! Click on pictures to enlarge.

In between storms today, the mourning doves have been preparing their nest. I hope they can get a lot done before the next round of storms roles in. Click on pictures to enlarge.

I was sitting at my desk this morning when I heard a lot of cooing going on outside. The romance going on in the tree outside my office window was so sweet it made me teary. Click on pictures to enlarge.

The doves were having quite the good time in the yard yesterday. Everywhere I looked, they were coupling up, cooing, and chasing each other around the yard. Romance galore. All they needed was Cole Porter. Click on pictures to enlarge.

If you really want to do the birds that visit your yard a favor, don’t throw away those fallen branches. Make a brush pile in some corner of the yard. The birds will be thankful for the cover from predators and the shelter in harsh weather. Click on picture to enlarge.

The last few days have been pretty dreary, but at least we don’t have to contend with the frigid temps for a while. I am, however, missing the nice light for pictures. Click on pictures to enlarge.

The Christmas blizzard generated nonstop action at our feeders. I keep saying, “Let’s invite everyone in.” I think our felines might have something to say about that. Click on pictures to enlarge.
