It’s been a wonderful few weeks of seeing monarchs everywhere. I wish them the best as they travel south. Click on pictures to enlarge.

The robins are getting together in their winter groups. It’s nice to see them coming through the neighborhood. It’s particularly nice to see so many young ones in the group. They love bathing. 🙂 Click on pictures to enlarge.
Brown thrashers are just pretty incredible. Not only do they have lovely singing voices, but those eyes are quite mesmerizing. This young one hasn’t yet developed the very bright yellow eyes, but she still has that intense gaze. Click on picture to enlarge.
This young flicker was very busy digging for ants when I stopped to take his picture. I love their combination of stripes and polka dots. It always makes me think of my mom, who would tell me when I would dress myself as a kid, “We don’t wear stripes and polka dots together.” Clearly northern flickers did not get the message. They might also be wearing white after Labor Day. Click on pictures to enlarge.
