I love their colors, their sounds, and their curiosity. I can always see them out of the corner of my eye watching me as I walk along the hedges in the yard. I know where the nest is and take care to avoid it. I look forward to seeing little catbirds soon! Click on pictures to enlarge.
A chickadee family has been visiting the yard quite a bit lately. I love how the little one gets the parents’ attention by flapping his/her little wings and jumping up and down. The cute little vocalizations help too. Click on pictures to enlarge.
I saw this lovely couple taking advantage of a water-soaked ditch along the road. They were so close that I actually had difficulty getting a picture of the two of them together because my telephoto lens is too long. I didn’t notice until working on this post just now that the male of the pair looks like he has something stuck in his neck. It looks like a staple from a staple gun. Sometimes humans really suck. I attended the protest yesterday afternoon at the Wakarusa Wetlands. Looking at the devastation made me want to sob, but seeing so many people out raising awareness was powerful. Click on pictures to enlarge.
