Spring Wanderings

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I spent a lot of time wandering around the lake this morning. While it would have been a much better day if I hadn’t accidentally erased some good red-tailed hawk pics, it was still very nice. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Bluebird of happiness

Friday, March 20th, 2009

It was great to get out for a while this morning and see some of the spring arrivals. The turkey vultures are back and I saw one lone tree swallow. The bluebirds are always with us, and always splendid. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Spring is all around us today. The cormorants and pelicans are back and there is a lot of incubating going on. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Morning at the Wetlands

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

It was 22 when I left the house this morning, but there is nothing like bundling up and walking the wetlands. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Wild Bunny?

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

We’ve been seeing this cutie for the past few days and wondering if she engineered an escape from somewhere. She doesn’t look like any of the wild rabbits we see around here, but I don’t know a great deal about rabbits. She was hanging out with some of the neighborhood rabbits. She let me get pretty close to take this picture. Click on picture to enlarge.

The white-headed cardinal visited again today. She had her boyfriend with her. :-) Click on pictures to enlarge.

Busy Backyard

Friday, March 6th, 2009

The robins are scouting out a nest. The cardinals and starlings seem to be pairing up (not with each other). And it looks like the sparrows are building at our neighbor’s house. However, the starlings and sparrows seem to be competing for the same piece of real estate. We’ll see who ends up with it. No housing collapse here. Click on pictures to enlarge.
