Any Day Now

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

We have been visiting this nest three times a week (sometimes more) and estimate the eaglet around eleven to twelve weeks old. We expect to show up any day and find that he/she has fledged. It’s amazing to watch, but we will miss the wing exercises, the flapping around the nest, the branching, and the enthusiastic chatter.

Who is that bird?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

This bird was just downstream from three great blue herons. I don’t think it’s a heron, or is it? Can anyone identify this one? Click on the photo to enlarge.
