Snow. Really. Again?

Another winter wonderland this morning. I rushed out to throw some seed out for the birds and check on the feeder. While I have to admit I am getting a bit tired of this, there is something magical about the snow coming down and how quiet our neighborhood is on a Sunday morning. I could hear a fox in the distance and a red-tailed hawk shouting out, but I didn’t see them. I did, however, see many of the regulars. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Cardinal Supreme

I’ve written before about the beautiful white-headed northern cardinal that nests in our yard (we call her Polly because she looks a bit like a parrot). I am always on the lookout for her. I saw her quite a bit before the extreme could, which was when these pictures were taken. I didn’t see her for several days after the subzero temps, so I got a little worried. I am happy to report that I saw her yesterday and she seems to have made it through the cold snap just fine. She is quite something. Click on pictures to enlarge.

If you have been following the blog, you know we are privileged to have a lovely cardinal couple living in our backyard. She has a white head. She looks kind of parrot-like, so we call her Polly. How I love watching her zoom about the yard. She is a bit of a daredevil. One day I watched her fly through a chain link fence without slowing down for a second, threading the needle at top speed. She has a pretty handsome partner, too. Click on pictures to enlarge.
